Kate Butler is an American artist, writer and educator based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia, on Wurundjeri land. Working predominantly in the direct, impressionable mediums of ceramic clay and drawing, her work explores the mystic interdependence of nature and the human imagination. Her ceramic lighting and objects reflect her artistic preoccupations with tactility, organic movement and reflected light.
Kate was raised in North Carolina and studied at The Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing in Aix-en-Provence, France, before earning her MFA in Fine Arts and MS in Art History from the Pratt Institute in New York.
